Job Description
IMCs Python Strategy Development team works closely with our Mumbai trading teams as well as other engineering teams on a variety of applications tools and automation projects. Youll be placed in an environment consisting primarily of a large Python analysis ecosystem drawing data from various sources including our own trading systems. Youll build analysis & visualisation tools at the heart of the business logic in close collaboration with the traders who use them. Your work involves both interpreting ideas as well as coming up with your own and efficiently implementing these into tools that are reliable scalable and performant.
Together with traders researchers quants and engineers you deliver challenging projects while taking ownership for endtoend product development from requirements gathering to production. Youll write reliable and scalable software while balancing time to production with quality and testability. Advanced automated testing and daily deployments will allow you to achieve agile and incremental benefits. Within a complex landscape of varying systems and technologies youll be constantly challenged to consider tradeoffs between throughput simplicity scalability and maintainability.
Your Core Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with traders researchers quants and engineers to deliver challenging projects
- Take ownership of endtoend product development from requirements gathering to production deployment
- Write reliable and scalable Python software ensuring a balance between time to production quality and testability
- Implement advanced automated testing practices to support agile development and daily deployments
- Navigate a complex landscape of diverse systems and technologies making informed tradeoffs between throughput simplicity scalability and maintainability
Your Skills and Experience:
- 57 years of professional experience in software engineering with a focus on Python development
- Strong academic background in Computer Science with a degree such as B. Tech/B.E
- Familiarity with a diverse range of systems and technologies and the ability to select optimal solutions based on project requirements
- Experience with Python frameworks such as Pandas Numpy and Scipy for numerical analysis and proficiency in distributed computing frameworks like Celery Dask Spark and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of various data access and persistence technologies including S3 MongoDB Redis InfluxDB Hadoop and Kafka
- Natural problemsolving skills with a passion for tackling new challenges on a daily basis
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment fostering strong relationships with colleagues
- Interest in trading and financial markets and understanding of related concepts and terminology
