Job Description

The Vertex Coop Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a handson perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Job Summary:

The Process Development team focuses on the development of implantable cell encapsulation devices for delivering proprietary cells.

The successful candidate will join the Process Development Team and work on process development optimization process scaleup and technology transfer of novel products and processes into Manufacturing. In this role the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with Next Gen technology and will focus on developing scalable processes that drive projects forward

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the evaluation and selection of new equipment/technologies or modifications to existing systems to consider new processing technologies
  • Support ongoing optimization and improvement in equipment/systems/processes for long term robustness and reliability
  • Establishes operating specifications defines process windows and improves manufacturing techniques/processes
  • Provide support to nonengineering Staff including those from R&D and Manufacturing to ensure successful technology transfer and continuous improvement
  • Responsible for writing and reporting of Protocols Reports SOPs and Work Instructions as required and conducts or coordinates testing and of identified activities
  • Statistically characterizes processes and implements controls to ensure repeatability and consistency.
  • Design 3D CAD models create drawings and collaborate with vendors to produce prototypes and production parts
  • Perform engineering analyses and relevant physical testing on designs
  • Provide handson troubleshooting process and manufacturing assistance in support of a rapid development cycle and manufacturing sustainability
  • Execute assigned duties on time and within budget; proactively telegraph delays and other issues to relevant stakeholders
  • Comply with all regulatory corporate and Quality System policies and complete other projects and/or assignments as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills to exchange complex technical/scientific information with others in complex situations
  • Ability to build open and collaborative relationships and work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Working toward a bachelors Masters or PhD degree (mechanical electromechanical Chemical or biomedical)
  • Legal authorizationto work in the United States now and in the future. Please note that Vertex does not provide sponsorship for internships or entry level roles within this part of the organization.
  • Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before July 2025
  • Candidate must be available to work fulltime 40 hours per week from July December 2025.

Program Dates: July December 2025 Full Time

Pay Range 20.00 35.00 USD/hour
