Job Description

PAVING LABORER

M.T. Laney Co. Inc. is an established successful construction firm located in Eldersburg MD. We are searching for an experienced committed career minded Paving Laborers to be part of our growing team to work in the Baltimore/Washington area.

The ideal candidate will be a team player who is highly motivated with a strong work ethic and desires to be part of a skilled construction team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving patching or prep crews
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment movement and adjustment of equipment and materials.
  • Ability to shovel rake and handle other small tools
  • Cleans and prepares construction site to eliminate possible hazards
  • Measure mark or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed
  • Tend pumps compressors or generators to provide power for tools machinery or equipment or to heat or move materials
  • Assist in the placement moving and dismantling of signs barricades cones and other traffic control devices
  • Ability to assist with the loading and unloading of equipment and materials
  • Assist with equipment cleanup as needed
  • Operate assigned equipment in compliance with the companys operating safety policies and procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to understand verbal orders
  • Knowledge of construction knowledge as well as safety standards
  • Must comply with municipality requirements specifications safety standards and company policies
  • Keen attention to detail and awareness to maintain the safety of the work environment
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Reliable transportation

SALARY/HOURLY EXEMPTION:

  • FullTime NonExempt Position
  • Salary based on knowledge and experience

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions that can include extreme cold heat and muddy conditions
  • Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise grease and dust that is typically associated with a construction project
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required

WORKING HOURS/EXPECTATIONS:

  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments as required

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk reach with hands and arms balance stoop bend kneel or crouch on all different types of terrain.
  • Frequent bending twisting and standing
  • The employee is also regularly required to talk hear or smell as well as use hands to finger handle or feel.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to75 pounds on occasions
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to pass a Drug Screen

EDUCATION:

  • High school or equivalent is preferred

LICENSES CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Driver License preferred

NONESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 1year of laborer experience preferred
