Position Summary
The role of the English Subject Expert Teacher (SET) is to ensure the daytoday exceptional education of students by preparing and facilitating subject specific lesson plans. Subject Expert Teachers implement the established BASIS Curriculum while tailoring specific topics to integrate their knowledge and passion for the subject.
ENGLISH 7 COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In this course students will continue to improve their abilities in the five major components: conventions reading writing scholarship and reasoning. The purpose of this course is to prepare seventh graders for their future courses at BASIS as well as their future college and workplace endeavors. Students will learn how to analyze and utilize a variety of literary devices; to both examine and use advanced vocabulary; to vary and manipulate sentence structure; to understand and interpret what they read; to scrutinize and improve what they write; to appreciate and imitate literary styles; and to put to use their evergrowing repertoire of research skills. All of these skills will begin to develop the base they need to prepare them for the AP work in the highschool curriculum.
Essential Functions:
- Preparing and facilitating subject and grade specific lesson plans
- Providing subject instruction on a higher level than gradestandard in an interactive learning environment to achieve exceptional results for all students
- Implementing the BASIS Curriculum by designing effective and creative lessons and assessments to ensure students education is internationally competitive
- Managing student behavior to foster academic achievement personal responsibility intellect individuality and respect in all students
- Participating in extracurricular programs such as clubs and sports
- Substituting/ duty coverage as needed
- Occasionally represent BASIS Ed Texas at designated school wide community events outside of typical school hours
- Supervising individual students and/or groups of students
- Other duties as assigned

Required Education: Bachelors degree in English or related subject from an accredited college or university. Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Public Safety (DPS) clearance.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Education: Masters degree from an accredited college or university in English or related subject.
Preferred Experience: 2 years teaching/education experience
