Job Description

Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team in the Precision Manufacturing postsecondary and apprenticeship programs. These programs provide students with a high degree of practical skills and theoretical knowledge in the industrial sector. Sheridan seeks parttime professors with expertise in one or more of the following trades:

  • General Machinist 429A
  • Tool and Die Maker 430A
  • Mould Maker 431A
  • Pattern Maker 443A
  • MachineTool Builder and Integrator 430M
  • Tool/Tooling Maker 630T

Sheridan professors are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds experiences and individual learning styles.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Delivering course curriculum in classroom and/or online which includes ensuring student awareness of course objectives approach and evaluation techniques;
  • Tutoring and academic counselling of students while evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students work within assigned courses;
  • Defining evaluating and validating learning outcomes and designing appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning;
  • Teaching CNC Machining;
  • Developing individualized instruction and multimedia presentations and incorporating technology into the learning process where applicable;
  • Attending periodic faculty meetings;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate(s) will also meet the following qualifications:

  • Certificate of Qualification in 429A 430A 431A 443A 430M or 630T required;
  • Minimum of 5 years related professional experience;
  • Industry experience in CNC milling and turning is required;
  • Availability to teach daytime evenings and/or weekends;
  • Experience in teaching oncampus online or in a hybrid format at the postsecondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry preferred;
  • Experience in curriculum development at the postsecondary level or equivalent is preferred;
  • Formal studies in adult or higher education an asset;
  • Strong network of contacts with other professionals in the Skilled Trades industry;
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrable ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students;
  • Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment.

Campus Location: Davis (May be assigned activities at any Sheridan campus)
Work Categorization: Hybrid Position Onsite at least 50 of the hours/week
Employee Group: PartTime Faculty
Salary Range: Based on relevant educational qualifications and experience
Hours:Monday Friday 7:00 am 5:00 pm; Saturdays 8:00 am 4:00 pm (Flexibility is required between these days and hours)
