You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) electrical engineer with a strong background in EHV/ HV substation layout design calculation and equipment specifications. Work involves designing of main FACTS equipments preparation of layout SLD component specifications inquiries and technical discussions with other parties (suppliers customers R&D internal parties)
In this position you will be mainly involved in design and engineering of SVC and STATCOM solutions in close coordination with various engineering team globally. As a key member of team you will be responsible for designing of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) solution for global projects & tenders.
Role & Responsibility
Preparation & review of substation engineering deliverables such as key single line diagram erection key diagram layout design (Plan & Section in 3D & 2D) magnetic field clearances installation drawings and instructions of the STATCOM and SVC systems of assigned FACTS delivery projects and tenders.
Perform various substation calculation such as thermal and short circuit force calculation for rigid busbars and flexible conductors SAG tension cantilever strength insulation coordination magnetic field noise study spacer / critical span grounding lightning protection etc according to international standards (IEC / IEEE).
Calculate foundation loads according to international standards (IEC / IEEE) considering the prevailing environmental conditions
Technical responsible for preparation of equipment specifications approving drawings bills of material optimizing the design of equipment under FACTS projects and review of vendor documents (drawing data sheet etc) for substation equipment such as reactor capacitor circuit breaker SA CT CVT DS bushing etc.
Coordination with internal departments and subsuppliers for individual main components and subsystems. Support installation team locally or remotely considering mechanical aspects.
Participate in the project specific mechanical design of the power electronics valves related to SVC & STATCOM systems.
Support NPI (New Product Introduction) and sales teams in the mechanical and layout designs related topics.
Required Qualification
A bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
5 years experience in EHV AC SubStation primary design calculation & coordination.
Experience in international projects with working exposure of international standards as IEC IEEE etc.
Strong oral and written communication skills in English
Desire qualification
Solidworks or similar 3D&2D design tool experience will be added advantage.
Experience in stress analysis is considered as an advantage.
Experience in Autocad and Autodesk Revit is considered as an advantage.
Experience in FACTS/HVDC substation projects is considered as an advantage.
