About the Assessment and Taxation Branch
The Assessment and Taxation Branch plays a critical role in the City of Edmontons financial ecosystem. We are responsible for the fair and accurate assessment of properties and the collection of property taxes which fund essential municipal services that Edmontonians rely on daily. While assessment and taxation might seem specialized at its heart our work is about ensuring a sustainable and thriving city. The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Branch Manager you will play a key role in developing and coordinating branch strategy. You will be responsible for the of complex and sensitive initiatives in alignment with both corporate and branch objectives. This role offers the chance to utilize your strategic planning project management and analytical skills to make a real difference in how we serve our community.
What will you do
- Drive Strategic Initiatives: Participate in the development and of Branch strategies longterm plans and performance measures. Your work will ensure alignment with Branch and City goals
- Manage Critical Issues: Provide leadership in identifying researching and analyzing strategic issues impacting the Branch and develop effective solutions
- Lead Key Projects: Coordinate and lead a variety of complex and sensitive branch and corporate projects ensuring effective planning management and implementation
- Support Branch Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor to the Branch Manager and Leadership Team providing support on a wide range of issues including process improvement communications and HRrelated activities
- Foster Collaboration: Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including City Council other City departments and external agencies
- Integrate crosssectional projects: lead and drive outcomes that support corporate initiatives

- Education in Finance Commerce Political Science Public Administration or related fields
- Progressively responsible strategic and management experience
- Proven ability to learn quickly adapt to change and thrive in a fastpaced environment
- Strong analytical problemsolving and project management skills
- Excellent communication presentation and reportwriting skills
- Experience in business strategic planning business process improvement and change management
- Familiarity with Albertas assessment and property tax system
Assets:
- Experience in municipal administration including Council and Committee activities
- Experience working in municipal property assessment and taxation Knowledge of public practices and processes assessment and taxation legislation economics strategicand business planning policy development and program/service design

- Strong Collaboration & Adaptability: Ability to build relationships with senior leadership and across departments along with a proven ability to quickly learn and adapt in areas like political analysis HR and project management

Conditions of employment and work environment:
- Up to: 1 permanent fulltime position
- Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week Monday Friday
- Salary Range: $87611 $109514 (Annually)
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite.
- This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off).
