The base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location ranging from $103939 $129924

Job Summary:

The Lead Line Engineer is responsible for high voltage medium voltage and low voltage transmission and distribution line designs for all operating companies in Avangrid Networks with strong focus on high and medium voltage transmission projects in NYSEG and RGE service territories as part of CLCPA. The Lead Engineer will work closely with the construction and design team to develop drawings specifications and construction work orders to support the design construction and commissioning of electrical equipment. Line designs include structural or electrical calculations routing and preparation of engineering drawings. The Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) stems from New York States Climate Act with a goal to reduce economywide greenhouse gas emissions 40 by 2030 (no less than 85 of 1990 levels by 2050 and 70 States Energy from renewable resources byfrom zero emissions Electric Sources by 2040. The electric delivery system in New York contains approximately 5600 miles of transmission lines & 621 substations. Position reports to the Unit Manager but will work daytoday in a cross functional project team and support project needs as directed by the project manager(s) & construction manager(s).

Responsibilities:

• Capital project engineering performance including all phases such as: scoping and budgeting conceptual engineering contract management and design engineering design construction and closeout.
• Responsible for leading and creating new conceptual designs and overseeing the work of external detailed designers.
• Perform field circuit reviews based on the projects scope provided and identify proposed improvements.
• Proactively identify and perform special projects and studies that innovatively solve unique and complex problems with broad impact to the business. Develop innovative alternate methods or design concepts to resolve unique problems or to improve processes/services.
• Oversee engineering studies to evaluate equipment and system performance and effectiveness and analyze operational issues in support of system reliability and operational efficiency.
• Develop and validate information needed for engineering analyses and applying engineering judgement to solve technical problems while ensuring all engineering designs meet applicable company local state and national codes and standards.

• Provide technical leadership in complex projects that have a wide impact on the department as well as mentor develop and support team in technical skills working independently with little supervision.
• Collaborate across departments as a technical subject matter expert liaison while directing contractors on company policy standards and best practices

Skills and Requirements:

Required Education:

• Bachelors degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering or Construction Engineering Management
• Professional Engineering License Preferred
• 5 years of relevant experience
• Proficient in PLSCADD Microsoft Outlook Excel Access and Word. SAP and Primavera experience is a plus.

Skills/Abilities:

• Theoretical engineering knowledge including the planning engineering and operation of transmission line infrastructure with sound analytical modeling & calculation processes. Values crossfunctional collaboration and understands importance of growing knowledge and developing relationships across the organization gaining perspective on global view of the business.
• Practical engineering experience/application that understands importance of constructability on how designs will be built through field experience and standardization while also performing economic analyses of engineering alternatives develop business cases and defend in front of stakeholders.
• Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering records and review/comment/approve engineering work done by others to ensure compliance with company standards specifications and contract requirements.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to articulate highly technical concepts alongside strong management and leadership skills with an ability to drive decisions change and adoption of new technologies.
• General contract commercial and regulatory awareness with the ability to balance effective and efficient customer service and project delivery ensuring maximum return on investment. This also includes an ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions.

• Routine technical skills required include but are not limited to CAD Drafting Company Procedures Processes and Standards Construction and Outage Sequencing Industry Codes Standards and Regulations PLSCADD Modeling Project Scoping and Estimating & Technical Writing and Communication.

• Unique Technical Skills desired include but are not limited to Foundation Design Overhead Transmission Line Layout Surveying Transmission Equipment Specifications Transmission Line Maintenance Transmission Material Selection Transmission Service Specifications & Underground Transmission Line Design.
