Duties And Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the scope of work is similar related or a logical assignment to this classification. 1. Coach and administer all aspects of the Womens Water Polo and Men and Womens Swim Program 2. Select train and supervise assistant coaching and game operations staff 3. Motivate and guide student athletes to achieve academic success and assist in their matriculation to the fouryear level and/or in meeting their vocational training goals 4. Evaluate plan and coordinate all programs relevant to the success of student athletes in the Intercollegiate Womens Water Polo and Men and Womens Swim Programs 5. Oversee preparation of the schedule 6. Monitor and stay within the assigned budget 7. Engage in approved fundraising activities to supplement the program budget 8. Assist in the identification procurement and inventory of supplies and equipment for the Intercollegiate Womens Water Polo and Men and Womens Swim Programs 9. Ensure all facilities and modes of transportation are used safely and maintained properly 10. Promote the Intercollegiate Womens Water Polo and Men and Womens Swim Programs within the community and our contiguous recruiting areas through recruiting public appearances promotional efforts community service camps clinics etc. 11. Observe all San Mateo County Community College District SMCCCD Board Policies and Procedures 12. Comply with all California Community College Athletic Association CCCAA Coast Conference and college rules regulations and policies
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Bachelors degree AND two years of coaching experience OR an Associate degree AND six years of coaching experience OR the equivalent (see below) Experience coaching water polo/swim at the youth club high school community college or fouryear college level Demonstrated cultural competence sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students faculty and staff Ability to work as a member of a team and collaborate with the Dean Administrative Assistant Athletic Trainers Instructional Aide and all colleagues on campus to support students and develop strong Intercollegiate Womens Water Polo and Men and Womens Swim Programs Ability to mentor students effectively and be a role model in terms of behavior decorum and ethics Possession of a valid California Drivers License or ability to obtain one
Preferred Qualifications
Possession of a Masters or above in physical education exercise science education with an emphasis in physical education kinesiology physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters or above in any life science dance physiology health education recreation administration or physical therapy OR the equivalent (see below)
