Job Details:
The Meat and Muscle Scientist is a key leadership role responsible for identifying and understanding the root causes of poultry meat myopathies. By comprehending the developmental processes this role will significantly enhance Cobbs R&D team contributing to the production of highquality and healthy chicken. The successful candidate will serve as the subject matter expert on muscle myopathies at Cobb necessitating exceptional selfawareness and the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels. Additionally the candidate will be responsible for applying sensory technologies to improve yield and consumer product quality. This position involves becoming a global expert in the field through an independent research program and international collaborations with other research groups. The ideal candidate should be resultsoriented with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Areas of interest for Cobb include:
Identification and implementation of current and new technologies to develop novel traits predictive of muscle myopathies.
Estimation of the genetic basis and development of predictive models for muscle myopathies including deep pectoral white striping woody and spaghetti breast.
Exploration of growth patterns muscle development and metabolic rates related to breast muscle myopathies.
Determination of the role of incubation environment and early posthatch brood conditions on muscle myopathies.
Identification of postbrood environmental conditions (including nutrition) that impact breast muscle yield and the incidence of muscle myopathies.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead research initiatives to identify and understand the root causes of poultry meat myopathies.
Apply sensory technologies to improve yield and consumer product quality.
Develop and implement new technologies to predict muscle myopathies.
Estimate the genetic basis and create predictive models for various muscle myopathies.
Explore growth patterns muscle development and metabolic rates related to muscle myopathies.
Investigate the impact of incubation and early posthatch conditions on muscle myopathies.
Identify postbrood environmental conditions affecting muscle yield and myopathies.
Collaborate internationally with research groups to advance knowledge in this field.
Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Specific Skills:
Extensive knowledge of muscle biology and myopathies.
Proven experience in research and development within the poultry industry.

Requirements:
Education: A Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Muscle Biology Food Science Poultry Science Animal Science or a related scientific field with a program emphasis on meat quality.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant work and/or educational experience in the field.
Biosecurity Requirements: The Cobb Animal Welfare Policy must be always followed. Biosecure facilities may require showering before entering the facilities. If showering is required appropriate clothing and footwear will be provided by the company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsites except for medical ID jewelry. Employee must sign an agreement declaring that you will avoid direct contact with any avian species.
Personal Protective Equipment: When visiting facilities a team member will follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment.
Travel: Travel will be 15 of the time to genetic farms located throughout the United States. Global travel would be occasional.
