Essential Duties:
- Prepares supporting documents for and posts routine and recurring journal entries accounting transactions and activities for 7 business day monthly GL closes.
- Prepares monthly financial statements comparing current periods to prior periods budgets and forecasts with appropriate analysis to support external and internal audits.
- Works with operating staff and other departments to make accruals and maintain recurring and reversing entries.
- Accurately and efficiently use the companys accounting systems.
- Works with multiple legal entities and is flexible in work assignments; able to work with multiple people under moderate deadline pressure.
- Prepares accurate timely and welldocumented monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts including timely resolution of differences.
- Reviews fluctuations in accounts and write clear concise explanations for variances.
- Actively involved in supporting external and internal audits financial reporting team NJ group office and Auto Processing business unit requests.
- Collaborates and works closely with business unit general manager and finance team to understand the auto processing business and provide excellent internal customer service fulfilling business unit requests and addressing questions in an accurate and timely manner.
- Looks for ways to improve and streamline the accounting process.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- 2 years accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA and public accounting experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of GAAP journal entry mechanics and internal controls.
- Knowledge of financial statements chart of accounts journal entry preparation accounting transactions and financial statement analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills with ability to quickly learn Oracle ERP financial system
- Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to and thrive within Ports America culture and values staying engaged with the accounting and auto processing business unit teams.
Working Conditions:
- Occasional travel to port operations (usually once or twice per year).
- Hybrid office environment with flexibility and extended hours during reporting periods (typically monthend and yearend closes as well as yearend audits).
- Physical activity typical of office environment.
