The claims clerk is responsible for providing expertise and support to all operational team members. The clerk will also be responsible for maintaining researching resolving and responding to correspondence and provider inquiries within a timely manner. Assists the call center with phone calls as needed. Provides feedback to the supervisor on trends and issues observed as opportunities for process improvement. Telecommuting/Schedule: Telecommute 40 of the time with three days in the office required. Education: High School Diploma/GED required Experience: One to two years experience working in a managed healthcare environment. Knowledge of Medical Terminology ICD10 coding CPT coding and HCPC coding is preferred. Licenses/Certifications: N/A Other Job Requirements: Able to perform basic to intermediate level of competence with various computer software applications including MS Outlook Word Excel Teams and PowerPoint. Able to effectively communicate with internal staff line of business administration and external customers. Full command of the English language both verbal and written. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Scans logs and tracks incoming appeals and refund checks. Forwards appeal to the appropriate staff.
- Research returned mail and takes appropriate action to resolve.
- Prints and mails correspondence such as dispute letters appeals and refund letters
- Serves as Customer Service call center backup for incoming and outgoing phone calls.
- Prepare check requests for claims manual payments scans and logs all pertinent materials.
- Performs Special Projects as requested by the supervisor.
- Processes documents and reviews invoices correspondence notices and nonstandard claims. Resolves all issues by researching and responding in a timely manner.
- Pulls claims and EOBs for Interstate Compact and Restitution Investigation requests for specific clients.
- Consistently meet established productivity schedule adherence and quality standards.
- Keeps the supervisor informed verbally and in writing of activities and problems within the assigned area of responsibility
