Job Description

The Director of the Accessibility and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) provides strategic leadership direction and oversight for accessibility services ensuring equitable access and support for students with disabilities. This role supervises and manages ADRC personnel programs and daily operations while aligning initiatives with the institutions broader strategic goals. The Director collaborates with faculty staff and university leadership to enhance accessibility reduce barriers and foster an inclusive environment for position reports directly to the Vice President and/or their designee and works closely with Human Resources Legal Counsel the Provosts Office Compliance and other university stakeholders.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides strategic vision and leadership for the ADRC ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and other applicable laws.
  • Oversees the daily operations of ADRC ensuring highquality accommodations programs and services for students with disabilities.
  • Supervises guides and supports staff ensuring professional development opportunities and alignment with institutional goals.
  • Reviews approves and implements student accommodation based on eligibility under the ADA and other legal frameworks.
  • Consults with faculty staff and students on accessibility issues addressing barriers and ensuring equal access to educational programs and services.
  • Develops implements and assesses policies outreach efforts and engagement initiatives that promote accessibility and inclusion.
  • Leads budget planning and resource allocation seeking grants private donations and external funding to enhance services.
  • Oversees data collection and reporting related to service delivery accommodations and program assessments.
  • Maintains and update the departments website informational materials and communication tools.
  • Represents ADRC on university committees task forces and working groups related to disability services workforce accessibility and institutional diversity efforts.
  • Stays current with national state and local disabilityrelated issues participating in professional organizations conferences and advocacy efforts.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education: Masters degree in Disability Studies Social Work Higher Education Administration College Student Personnel Rehabilitation Counseling Psychology Special Education or a related field AND:

  • 7 years of experience in disability services or related field.

Equivalency/Substitution: Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A onetoone ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.

Skills:

  • Expertise in universal design and the sociopolitical model of disability.
  • Strong problemsolving and creative solution development skills in addressing accessibility barriers.
  • Strong knowledge of ADA ADAAA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and their applications in a university setting.
  • Experience collaborating with advocacy organizations and community partners in disability services.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office learning management systems (e.g. Canvas) and accessibility technologies.
  • Ability to conduct interviews review medical documentation and determine appropriate accommodations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a university setting.
  • Strong process improvement and data analysis skills for program evaluation and reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fastpaced environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel for professional development and advocacy efforts.
  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions.
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with students faculty staff and external key stakeholders.
  • Competency in interpreting assessment data accommodation history and selfreport information into educational accommodation recommendations.
  • Able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively.
