Job Description
Summary
Performs technical and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory.
- Assists with receiving identifying accessioning processing and transporting specimens.
- Maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies. Orders supplies as needed.
- Confirms eligibility verifies insurance benefits referrals and authorization for identified patient registrations.
- Communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers.
- Maintains work area in a safe aseptic and organized manner.
- Performs clerical duties including supply distribution answering phones data entry and filing.
- May perform venipuncture on patients of all age groups and other specimen collection consistently using proper therapeutic skills and according to procedures.
- May assist in delivery of physicians reports via phone and electronic distribution in a timely manner.
- May perform waived Laboratory testing onsite and reports results according to government standards.
- High school diploma General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire
- No experience required
- No licensure/certification/registration required
- Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
- Works under minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
