Computational Biologist

Salary:
Level A: AUD $83468 $113262 p.a. or
Level B: AUD $119231 $141581 p.a.
plus 17 super (retirement savings system/pension scheme)

The successful candidate will be appointed at either Academic Level A or B depending on the Selection Panels assessment of the individuals level of academic achievements and professional standing.

Your next career opportunity
As a Research Fellow in the Structural Biology and Computational Design Laboratory youll contribute to groundbreaking research in computational biology and structurebased drug discovery. Youll have the opportunity to work on projects with realworld impact from understanding diseases to developing potential treatments.

Collaborating with industry partners and utilising stateoftheart facilities youll be at the forefront of translational research in a supportive valuesdriven environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct Innovative Research: Undertake computational biology projects focusing on structurebased drug discovery for targets of pandemic potential.
  • Contribute to Scientific Knowledge: Publish original results in peerreviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • Secure Funding and Collaborate: Assist in preparing research proposals and collaborate with external partners to secure funding.
  • Mentor and Supervise: Guide students at undergraduate honours and graduate levels on research projects.

You may be a great fit if:
You are an enthusiastic early career researcher with a strong background in computational and structural biology eager to apply your skills to understanding and treating human diseases in a collaborative research environment.

You may also:

  • Hold a PhD in protein biochemistry or a related field with a focus on computational or structural biology.
  • Have experience in structurebased drug discovery molecular dynamics simulations or AI applications in molecular biology.
  • Possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Have experience in protein expression purification and biochemical assays (desirable).
  • Be familiar with various biophysical techniques and protein expression systems (desirable).
