This position may pay more than the minimum proposed salary listed above depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.
The Academic Advisor II complies with all state system and university policies regulations rules procedures guidelines and directives in a timely manner and adhere to confidentiality policies (FERPA).
Responsibilities:
Provideacademic advisement for General Studies majors. Assisting students as they transition to PVAMU from high school or other educational institutions.
Provide administrative support to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies. Provides support for associated activities and office management.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree.
Two years of related experience.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing spreadsheet and database applications.
Knowledge of student information systems degree planning and degree audits.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
Excellent written communication analytical interpersonal and organizational skills.
Other Requirements:
Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
Travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Education Psychology or other related field.
Two or more years in advisement social work education or related field.
Must have the willingness and ability to be trained in Academic Advising.
Knowledge of general student services in postsecondary institutions.
Must be able to work flexible nonstandard hours to include nights and weekends.
