The opportunity

This role is to provide strategic direction for underwriting portfolios in the region which encompasses Motor Fleet Business underwritten in WA SA NT and Tasmania ensuring growth and profitability. This role involves leading a team of underwriters underwriting complex new businesses and offering specialist advice.

Additionally the role is responsible for building and maintaining broker relationships applying technical expertise contributing to business results and staying informed about industry standards and new product introductions.

Your new role

As the Underwriting manager Motor Fleet team you will work closely with the Head of Fleet to oversee our motor fleet insurance portfolio lead a team of professionals and develop strategic initiatives to expand our client base. You will play a critical role in managing relationships with clients brokers and key stakeholders while ensuring operational excellence in underwriting and claims management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build strong relationships with brokers and clients and drive growth in the motor fleet insurance sector.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance our market presence and achieve business objectives.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
  • Lead mentor and develop a highperforming team fostering a culture of excellence and accountability
  • Strong understanding of fleet risk assessment underwriting principles claims handling and policy structuring

About you

With proven experience in the insurance industry particularly in motor fleet insurance you will have demonstrated strong leadership skills by successfully managing and motivating teams. Ability to generate new business and grow a portfolio complemented by excellent negotiation communication and relationshipbuilding skills. You will possess strong analytical skills to assess risks and make datadriven decisions. Thriving in a fastpaced environment you will consistently drive results and contribute to the success of QBE.

You will have

  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to build and maintain longterm client partnerships.
  • Ability to identify market trends competitive opportunities and potential partnerships to drive business expansion
  • Strong decisionmaking skills with the ability to delegate effectively and manage team performance
  • Ability to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to ensure business success
  • Extensive experience in the insurance industry particularly in motor fleet insurance or related commercial vehicle insurance.
