JOB IDENTIFICATION

Job Title: Creative Corners Preschool Director of Spanish Immersion Program(s)

Grade: VI IMRF

FLSA: Non Exempt

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Recreation Supervisor

Supervises: Creative Corners Preschool Teacher Assistant(s)

BASIC FUNCTION

Implementation of Spanish Immersion and Spanish Immersion Enrichment Programs 36 year olds)

  • Working Hours for Spanish Immersion are MondayFriday 8:0012:30p 4.5 hours daily with an additional 2 hours per week of prep.
  • Working Hours for Spanish Enrichment are Thursday and Friday from 12pm2:30pm.
  • Total of 29.50 hours per week
  • School year 9 month commitment runs from SeptemberMay
  • Last 2 weeks in August will be for room preparation and set up.
  • Last 2 weeks in May will be for room reorganization and end of the year clean up.
  • During busy times we do allow for additional prep periods as approved by Supervisor.

Implementation of Spanish Summer Preschool Program 36 year olds)

  • Working Hours for Summer Preschool Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday 8:0012:00p 4 hours daily with an additional 1.0 hours per week of prep.
  • Working Hours for Summer Preschool Lunch Bunch 12:002:30p 2.5 hours daily.
  • Total of 20.5 hours per week
  • 12 week Summer Commitment End of MayMiddle of August
  • During busy times we do allow for additional prep periods as approved.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Responsible for planning supervision and safety of the preschool program and activities for the participants that meet the emotional physical intellectual and social needs of both the individual and the group.
  2. Ability to speak/read English and Spanish Languages fluently and conduct daily program in Spanish language.
  3. Possess a thorough knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education classroom management techniques and appropriate guidance and discipline techniques.
  4. Prepare the classroom and cleanups after the days activities.
  5. Arrive 60 minutes prior to the start of class and stay 30 minutes after class for preparation and cleaning of the room.
  6. Understanding of emotional physical intellectual and social needs of children between ages 3 6 years.
  7. Supervise communicate with and direct Spanish Immersion Preschool Directors assistant(s) daily.
  8. Maintain a clean and organized classroom in which to provide a warm safe environment for the children to learn and grow.
  9. Provide a variety of activities and materials that are age appropriate and relevant to young children. Purchase all supplies (eligible for reimbursement) or order through Recreation Supervisor.
  10. Use appropriate and positive behavior management when necessary according to Behavior Management policy A24 and complete all applicable documentation.
  11. Work with Inclusion Aides in classroom setting as provided by MaineNiles Special Recreation Agency.
  12. Develop course curriculum and base lesson plans on the curriculum outline submit to Recreation Supervisor monthly.
  13. Must keep up to date on preschool issues and trends and incorporate into the program on a regular basis through attendance at pertinent professional seminars reading periodicals webinars etc.
  14. Work cohesively and professionally with coteachers assistants and substitutes
  15. Assist in decorating bulletin boards in facility hallways.
  16. Maintain open communication with parents regarding participant behavior and advancement. Provide frequent timely and accurate written electronic and verbal information to families.
  17. Ability to work with bilingual parents and children.
  18. Pleasant personality. Work record demonstrating positive attitude reliability initiative tact and productivity.
  19. Demonstrate respect for families students caregivers coworkers and Supervisor
  20. Models and facilitates the appropriate behavior of the participants. Responsible for evacuation procedures of classroom and or program including shelter in place fire and tornado drills.
  21. Meet with the Recreation Supervisor on a regular basis by appointment and at monthly meetings. Keep open lines of communication.
  22. Familiar with classroom technology or willing to receive training to incorporate SMART Technology in the classroom.

OTHER DUTIES

  1. Administer First Aid when required and complete appropriate documentation.
  2. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual and Crisis Manual.
  3. Direct participants in the event of an emergency such as fire severe weather or other emergency.
  4. Communicate with Recreation Supervisor regarding any equipment needing repair or replacement.
  5. Attend related training and meetings as requested.
  6. Ability to use technology within the classroom setting to prepare newsletters flyers and other handouts in software such as Microsoft Word.
  7. Additional duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or a Bachelors degree in any field of study with six Early Childhood credit hours.

Experience: Minimum of one year in a teaching role as either an employee or student teacher.

Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid Certified Classes available through Park District upon hire
