Requirements
Database Migration Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Database MigrationEngineer with deep expertise in SQL Server and database migration tools todesign and develop a robust migration solution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design develop and implement adatabase migration tool to seamlessly migrate databases fromonpremises to Cloud primarily around SQL Server.
- Analyze existingschema stored procedures indexes and data models for compatibility with SQL.
- Optimize data pipelines to ensurehighperformance migration with minimal downtime.
- Developautomated scripts and ETL workflows to handle data transfer efficiently.
- Addressschema transformation data type compatibility and performance tuning during the migration.
- Conductdata validation reconciliation and consistency checks postmigration.
- Implementlogging error handling and rollback mechanisms for failsafe migration.
- Collaborate withcloud architects data engineers and DevOps teams to define best practices for migration.
- Provide documentation user guides and training for internal teams on the migration process.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong expertise in SQL Server (onprem and Azure SQL Server) including schema design indexing partitioning and query optimization.
- Handson experience withdatabase migration tools likeAzure Data Migration Service (DMS) SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) and custom migration scripts.
- Proficiency inTSQL stored procedures triggers and database scripting.
- Strong knowledge ofETL processes data pipelines and data transformation techniques.
- Experience withPython PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation.
- Familiarity withAzure services such as Data Factory.
- Understanding ofdata security encryption and compliance in cloudbased data environments.
- Experience inperformance tuning data partitioning and workload optimization during migration.
- Knowledge ofCI/CD pipelines for database deployments is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience withFabric SQL.
- Certifications such asAzure Database Administrator Associate (DP300 orAzure Data Engineer Associate (DP203.
