The Role: Financial Analyst Consolidations and Balance Sheet Reporting (US Legal Entity and Investments Reporting)

This position reports to the Associate Director US Controller and Internal Reporting. As a Financial Analyst specializing in Balance Sheet and Internal Reporting you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements and investment accounting within our organization.

The Team:Join the Global Controllers team where you will collaborate with various divisions corporate departments and higher levels of management. Your contributions will be vital in achieving financial accounting and reporting excellence generating significant impact and adding value to S&P Global.

The Impact:As the Financial Analyst Consolidations and Balance Sheet Reporting US Legal Entity and Investments Reporting) you will be instrumental in the review and reporting of financial statements for our joint ventures and other US legal entities as well as managing the accounting for our equity investments. Your responsibilities will include ensuring proper and accurate accounting of equity investments with a special focus on equity method investments. You will prepare monthly roll forwards and analyses related to equity investments as well as monthly financials for our USbased joint ventures and other US legal entities. Additionally you will assist in statutory audits of these entities and related tax filings while continuously seeking to improve and automate existing processes and data inputs developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for enhancements.

Responsibilities:Your key responsibilities will include preparing the monthly investment roll forward and investment reconciliations as well as the monthly investments Variable Interest Entity (VIE) analysis and updating the investments database. You will prepare financial statements associated with the US S&P joint ventures and other US legal entities ensuring proper accounting of equity investment cash transactions monthly adjusting entries and marktomarket adjustments in accordance with US GAAP. Additionally you will manage account segment creations for new investments review impairment indicators for each investment and ensure compliance with SOX documentation related to responsibilities. You will assist with statutory audits and filings within the investments/joint ventures/US legal entities structure while enhancing and automating existing processes to improve efficiency and capacity. Lastly you will assist with other related ad hoc requests and must be comfortable working through unknown issues using both company and external accounting resources.

What We Are Looking For:We seek an analytical inquisitive collaborative and skeptical individual who can effectively process large sets of data. A solid understanding of US GAAP particularly around investment codifications along with experience in financial reporting and analysis is essential. Strong English communication skills the ability to understand core business needs and the capability to work with diverse groups and levels of management globally are crucial for success in this role. You should be adept at juggling multiple tasks with ease and possess strong organizational skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or an equivalent field
  • 35 years of experience in financial reporting and analysis
  • Proficiency in MS Office particularly with Excel is required although a willingness to learn is also appreciated.
  • Amenable for a Hybrid Setup
  • Amenable to work in US Hours specifically US Eastern Time zone
