Job Description
The Burnaby School District is looking to hire a fulltime Carpenter to work throughout the District. This position is responsible for a full range of carpentry work throughout the district including new construction renovation/ alteration and maintenance of School District buildings and structures.
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent)
- Successful completion of the B.C. Apprenticeship Program and a valid BC or Interprovincial Journeyperson
- Carpenter Trades Qualification (TQ) is required
- Four years related work experience as a Journeyperson (post TQ)
- Demonstrated training and work experience in current BC construction/maintenance safety requirements
- Valid B.C. Drivers License (Class 5
- Experience in cabinet making (Joinery) is a definite asset
- Experience using production line shop joinery equipment such as table saws edger joiner and dowel
- machines are an asset.
Applicants are expected to:
- Have thorough knowledge of construction and construction safety practices
- Possess the physical condition and health to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job (including climbing ladders/scaffolds and lifting and carrying heavy materials/objects)
- Maintain good interpersonal skills and have good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledgeable of safety procedures and materials methods and equipment related to carpentry
- A selfstarter with an ability to organize daily tasks work independently and as a member of a team
This position pays $42.51 per hour complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes dental extended health benefits pension paid sick time paid vacation time education fund and other incentives.
