Job Summary/Basic Function
Train and serve as a Police Officer qualified to carry firearms; patrol the campus community testify in court proceedings maintain accurate records; operate and maintain law enforcement equipment; enforce university state and local laws; investigate suspected criminal incidents and respond to emergency situations. Graduate and receive P.O.S.T. certification from a Basic Police Academy in the State of Tennessee. (Candidates with law enforcement certification in another state must successfully complete a lateral training class and achieve P.O.S.T. Certification) Successfully complete all Field Training Program requirements as indicated by Daily Observation Reports and review by the Training Sergeant.
Required Education
High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required.
Required Related Experience
US citizen 18 years of age minimum. Honorable discharge if military experience; must pass a psychological and physical examination administered by a licensed physician at the departments expense.
Required License/Registration/Certification
Valid Driver License
Desirable Related Experience
Two 2 years of disciplinefree law enforcement experience and training preferred. Bachelors degree preferred.
Desirable License/Registration/Certification
Tennessee P.O.S.T. Certification preferred; National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification preferred.
