Responsibilities - Demonstrate effective communication skills in English both verbally and in writing.
- Possess a strong understanding of the Departments Procedures pertaining to the assigned project duties and be proficient in relevant computer programs.
- Exercise independent judgment in planning work details and making technical decisions related to field aspects of the project.
- Perform highly complex technical assignments including field surveying construction layout engineering computations construction work inspections and field tests.
- Coordinate and supervise lowerlevel inspectors.
- Work under the general supervision of the Project Administrator.
Qualifications - A valid Drivers License is required with a safe driving record and must complete a preemployment screening.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- ICE is a drugfree workplace.
Education & Experience Requirements - To be eligible for this position you must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally for the Senior Engineer Intern classification an EI certificate is required.
- For candidates with engineering engineering technology or construction management degrees: Minimum of one 1 year of CEI experience in the construction of roadway or bridge structures.
- For candidates without engineering engineering technology or construction management degrees: Minimum of four 4 years of CEI experience in roadway or bridge construction.
Certification Requirements Candidates must possess the following qualifications/certifications relevant to the projects scope of work at the time of Notice to Proceed (NTP): - CTQP Final Estimates Level I
- CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I
- CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges)
- CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
- CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level II
- CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
- CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level II
- CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
- CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (mandatory for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures lighting structures and traffic signal structure foundations)
- CTQP Grouting Technician Level I
- CTQP PostTensioning Technician Level I
- IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level
- FDOT Intermediate MOT
- Nuclear Radiation Safety
- Florida Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors
Physical Demands The role involves moderate physical activity such as walking standing bending and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects and proficiency in recognizing sound tone and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions including hot cold and noisy settings and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope and may include working in conditions with active traffic.
Expected Hours of Work The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule.
