We are seeking a substitute special education teacher who enjoys teaching in a student centered learning environment. Our special education teachers are passionate about teaching their curriculum and are able to relate concepts and principles to students everyday lives. They implement an instructional therapeutic or skill development program for all students and plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Position Objective: This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks standards and the rules and regulations of the FreetownLakeville Regional School District. Responsibilities: PRIMARY LOVE of teaching and learning believing every child can learn be collaborative bring joy and kindness to school each day 1. Responsible for remaining up to date regarding curriculum content. 2.Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction. 3.Responsible for mentoring students understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction materials or assessments when appropriate. 4.Responsible for effective management of the classroom environment.5.Responsible for effective instruction which includes making learning goals clear to the students using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques. 6.Responsible for using innovative approaches and instructional strategies including the effective use of technologies to increase student learning and confidence to learn. 7.Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement. 8.Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student earning including for implementing specific strategies for students with special needs with 504 plans andor second language learners 9.Responsible for providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individual regardless of race color gender age religion gender identity national origin marital status sexual orientation disability or homelessness 10.Performance of other jobrelated duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: 1.
