Job Description

The Pharmacist in Charge is responsible for the daytoday operations of the pharmacy including dispensing and consulting on prescriptions financial performance compliance with state and 340B regulations staff performance and customer service.

Position will start by training at our Merced Pharmacy then transition to our Modesto Pharmacy.

Schedule is Monday Saturday 7:30am 7:00pm.

Compensation: $70.25 $73.76 an hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares fills and verify prescriptions as ordered by physicians and other authorized personnel as provided for by California Law and provide consults to patient as applicable.
  • Stores and preserves medications and vaccines as appropriate.
  • Checks incoming shipments of pharmacy supplies and medications and arranges for their storage.
  • Charges 3rd party payer for dispensed medications.
  • Removal of outdated from the pharmacy and clinic stocks.
  • Distribution of clinic stock supplies of medications.
  • Oversees and coordinates the work of pharmacy technicians in the functions detailed above as well as other duties as described in the job functions of the pharmacy technicians and as allowed by California Law.
  • Hire and provide supervision and development opportunities for pharmacy staff by training mentoring; assigning duties; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations.
  • Coordinates staff training (includes both presentation of inservices and attendance at the presentation of others providing inservices).
  • Provides drug information to clinic personnel and medical staff.
  • Facilitates staff meetings and other meetings/training as needed.
  • Monitors and complies with 340B Compliance Regulations operating procedures and audits.
  • Pharmacist administers immunizations pursuant to a protocol orders and interprets tests for monitoring and managing efficacy and toxicity of drug therapies.
  • Pharmacist provides consultation training and education to patients about drug therapy disease management and disease prevention.
  • Pharmacist provides professional information and participates in multidiscipline review of patient progress.
  • Drives financial performance by ensuring that facility budgeted goals are achieved; developing reviewing and monitoring plans to correct deficiencies in financial performance; and providing guidance and analysis of volume trends and operational needs to ensure budgets meets future expectations.
  • Assists in State Board of Pharmacy Inspections and any other audits or inspections.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable state federal and local laws regulations and company policies.
  • Maintains inventory levels to maximize prescription fulfillment by monitoring onhand levels and prescription trends.
  • Oversee and conduct physical inventory.
  • Works collaboratively with VP & Chief Medical Officer to oversee Pharmacy Operations.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the VP & Chief Medical Officer.

Min. Qualifications

  • Excellent Communication Skills ability to successfully interact with patients family members and staff.
  • Ability to use electronic health records and pharmacy management software interact collaboratively with medical care team and other staff members. Collect data and participate in relevant reporting processes.

Physical Demands

  • Lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and push 100 pounds on wheels.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. High manual dexterity.
  • Reach above shoulder level bend squat sit stand stoop crouch reach kneel twist/turn and good finger sensation.
  • Hearing adequate for phone work and clear speech for staff and patient communication.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually average.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Graduate with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree or grandfathered Masters or Bachelors degree of an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy and unrestricted California pharmacist license.
  • Three years of Pharmacist experience preferred.
  • Two years of Pharmacist in Charge or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of 340B program administration preferred.
  • Previous high volume retail pharmacy experience preferred.
