As a Linux System Administrator you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining solutions in support of a national security mission to maintain the safety security and effectiveness of the United States nuclear weapons stockpile. Working as part of the IT organizations IT Infrastructure team the Linux System Administrator position offers you the ability to install manage upgrade and maintain existing Linux based infrastructure in a large distributed network environment. In addition you will work with IT engineering and project management to implement new technologies.
You will also be responsible for configuring user access maintaining the stability of the system and working with customers or other IT professionals to resolve issues or implement new capability.
Additional responsibilities include:
Administer and support core Linuxbased technologies.
Administer and support PKI Infrastructure
Administer and support RSA Infrastructure
Install and configure Linuxbased thirdparty/COTS applications.
Monitor and update the Linux OS and installed applications in accordance with Cyber Security requirements.
Provide afterhours support for emergencies and occasional weekend maintenance.
Develop and maintain current operational procedures user documentation and user training materials applicable to the supported systems.
Work with IT project management organization and the Chief Technology Office to deliver solutions on schedule
Keep pace with technical advancements within computing infrastructure and supporting software.
Incorporate new technologies as appropriate.
Determining specifications and requirements for hardware and/or software compatibility and maintenance.
Managing the Linux configurations and deployments for the most efficient operation in a secure manner to meet DOE/NNSA requirements.
Troubleshoot issues and work with other technical and functional personnel to complete problem resolution.
Perform application and system updates following an approved change control process.
When necessary lead efforts to define functional requirements; conduct detailed analysis of alternative solutions and make/buy options.
Perform system test and validations; verify system expectations and requirements; ensure system operation; perform enhancements and improvements.
Work with the Network Operations Center to implement monitoring capabilities and strategies to ensure optimum system available and proactive response to issues.
Ensure that all appropriate implementation procedures are developed and/or followed in a routine basis.
Ensure that all appropriate operating procedures contingency plans and security policies are developed and/or followed on a routine basis.
Bachelors degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum of four years of relevant experience or a Masters degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server Installation Configuration and Maintenance
Experience with Red Hat Satellite
Experience with VMWare Virtual Technologies
Experience with Pure Storage and NetApp
Experience in designing maintaining and implementing large scale enterprise business systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environments.
Demonstrated experience with SAP ERP products and deployment projects
Experience in installation setup and management of SAP R/3 systems in support of the SAP ECC product line including SAP Hana DB. Three 3 or more years of direct experience with system administration of Unix based platforms (Preferably RedHat Linux)
Direct knowledge of SAP Basis administration
Experience in installation maintenance and operations of SAP ERP product suite in multiple environments (Linux Windows)
Strong understanding of the interactions between applications operating systems and thirdparty software
Indepth understanding of information technology systems in a highly distributed computing environment.
General understanding of Networking equipment and technology
Experience with securing hardware and software components.
Experience with virtual computing environments
Experience with backup and recovery of physical and virtual computing environments.
