River Run manages the shared services organization supporting both Newburyport Bank and Pentucket Bank. While both Banks maintain their independent mutual community bank status working in tandem under River Run provides scale to the organization. Working together under River Run provides greater opportunities for advanced products and services and operational efficiencies. This will establish River Run as a dominant sustainable independent and fullservice mutual community banking partnership in the Northeastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire markets.


The Credit Team Lead is responsible for supervising a team of credit analysts. This role manages the review and completion of workflow for analysts under their supervision provides assistance to analysts where needed and assists with the onboarding and training of new analysts. The Credit Team Lead also analyzes all relevant credit and financial data used in evaluating the creditworthiness of commercial borrowers and in preparing a comprehensive objective credit analysis of new renewal and existing loan relationships to assist management in the loan decision making process.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and guidance for Credit Analysts.
  • Assists with managing departmental workflow.
  • Standard managerial responsibilities include performance management coaching and mentoring.
  • Provides assistance with review of analyst work to confirm accuracy and completeness.
  • Recognizes and assesses pertinent risks and identifies the impact of nonfinancial and external factors which range from general economic issues to industry and management issues and may impact the borrowers ability to meet its obligations.
  • Works with other employees of the department & organization as a positive enthusiastic and proactive team member.
  • Remains current on all Bank credit policies and existing regulations verifying conformity and noting exceptions in existing and prospective credit relationships.
  • Demonstrates understanding and compliance with Bank policies and procedures as well as regulatory guidelines as applicable to the position.
  • Identifies potential or developing problems within the loan portfolio and recommends action plans and risk rating adjustments as needed.
  • Gathers and assimilates appropriate data for each credit analysis and determines the need to request additional information in order to complete work assignments on a timely basis meeting applicable deadlines.
  • Assists with the onboarding and training of new credit analysts
  • Supports ongoing credit file maintenance and overall commercial loan quality control while assisting the commercial loan origination staff in various related support functions.
  • Completes of annual reviews and new requests for commercial borrowers.
  • Provides backup support for department functions which may include appraisal or environmental management reporting and other department tasks that the individual may hold specialty in
  • Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to the banks ongoing mission vision and core values.
  • Spreads financial statements and maintains financial spreadsheets accurately while completing preliminary review of personal and corporate credit worthiness for borrowers.
  • Occasionally assists Commercial Lenders with constructions site visits inspections customer visits and customer meetings.
  • Performs additional duties as requested or assigned.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of bachelors degree with specialization in business or finance in addition to a minimum of 510 years of experience in a credit analysis role within the banking/financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of commercial lending financial analysis and business structures corporate and personal financial statements in order to determine credit worthiness and risk ability to translate market data and valuation calculations in appraisal reports.
  • Detail oriented ability to work successfully with deadlines and time constraints ability to learn the Banks products and services including loan products selfmotivation and decision making skills required.
  • Working knowledge of general banking and lending concepts and principals in addition to strong experience with and understanding of Microsoft applications (Word Excel and Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively in a multitasking environment and meet deadlines with quality results.
  • Professional demeanor and professional maturity required for working closely with customers employees vendors and members of the Board of Directors.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
