Job Description
Scotford Fennessy is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to play a key role in our internal finance function owning reporting driving compliance and managing internal payroll with the flexibility you need.
This role has become available due to an internal departure and offers a rare opportunity to step into a senior position without compromising balance or impact.
Whats the role
This position reports to the Managing Director with a dotted line to our CFO who works one day per week. While not involved in daytoday operations the CFO will provide ongoing support and professional development helping you grow your capability across the broader finance function.
Over time wed love to see you step further into the function and take on greater responsibility in the overall financial management of the business.
Youll take ownership of monthend reporting internal payroll and compliance while providing backup support for contractor payroll and invoicing when needed.
Given this is a small finance team understanding systems and processes from the ground up will be part of the role. This knowledge will help provide backup assistance as required and allow for improvements to be identified to promote efficiency.
We offer true flexibility structure your week around four 6hour days or three 8hour days depending on what works for you.
What youll be doing:
- Leading monthend close journals and management reporting focussing on both the financial and operational elements of the business
- Responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of all financial data
- Preparing board reports and margin summaries
- Managing internal payroll (fortnightly cycle)
- Lodging payroll tax BAS FBT and superannuation in conjunction with our external tax accountants
- Monitoring and reporting on cash flow
- Managing Westpac Invoice Financing and audits
- Submitting ABS and ATO regulatory requirements
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations
- efficient management of all debtors
- Managing the finance inbox and responding to internal queries
- Providing backup support for contractor payroll and invoicing
- Providing backup support for accounts payable and customer invoicing
What youll bring:
- A degree in Accounting Finance Commerce or Business
- Proven experience in management accounting
- Strong knowledge of accrual accounting principles
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP pivot tables formulas)
- Proficiency in Xero MYOB or other ERP systems
- Familiarity with the Astute Payroll system is highly desirable
- High attention to detail and confidence working independently
