Job Description

About the Role

A talented Head of Department for ICT is needed to lead Computer Science at an outstanding allgirls school in Islington (permanent September). The role involves significantly contributing to high GCSE and Alevel progress developing the curriculum and fostering a love of Computer Science in girls to increase GCSE participation and introduce Alevels. Proven experience in raising student achievement is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership and management for the ICT department.
  • Develop refine and implement a highquality Computer Science curriculum and pedagogy across Key Stages 3 and 4 with a view to ALevel introduction.
  • Lead and support colleagues to improve the progress of students in Computer Science.
  • Foster a love of coding and Computer Science sciences both in and outside of the classroom.
  • Champion digital literacy across the school.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning within the department.
  • Contribute to the schools extensive enrichment programme.
  • Understand the context of the school community and develop strategies to support all students to be successful.

Requirements

  • An ambitious highly skilled teacher of Computer Science.
  • Demonstrable experience of improving the progress of students.
  • The skillset to develop and refine a Computer Science curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Ability to foster confidence and joy for girls and young women in their learning of Computer Science.
  • An understanding of the context of an innercity school community.
  • High ambition for students and staff.
  • Excellent and reflective practitioner ideally with successful experience of teaching both GCSE and potentially Alevel.
  • Skills to review and further improve a Computer Science curriculum and to lead digital literacy across the school.
  • A team player willing to contribute to the schools extensive enrichment programme.
