JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Outdoor Adventures Facilitator
The Department of Campus Recreation is seeking to fill the position of Outdoor Adventures Facilitator. This entry level position is responsible for facilitating high quality outdoor/adventure experiences for individuals and groups in the Penn State community and beyond.
Primary responsibilities include providing excellent customer service facilitating a positive culture of risk management and assisting with daily operations of program/facility areas. These responsibilities may be conducted in a variety of environments and roles including groupbased teambuilding (indoor & outdoor) indoor climbing facilities Stone Valley Recreation Area (boat rentals outdoor climbing structures facility rentals general recreation) outdoor trip leading and the Outdoor Adventures Rental Center. This position may include driving University vehicles and trailers.
Prior outdoor leadership experience welcomed but not required. Applicants should possess a desire to learn new skills develop facilitation/leadership abilities and interact with others in dynamic and challenging settings. All Facilitators will receive training in general facilitation customer service and risk management skills. Additional site and/or role specific training is available to create opportunities for professional development and advancement (see Outdoor Adventures Lead Facilitator and Supervisor positions).
Facilitators should expect to work a minimum of 12 afternoons/evenings per week and 56 weekends per semester. Programs and facility coverage may include overnight shifts. A minimum of 1012 hours/week is expected (with potential for up to 24 hours/week). Must attend mandatory staff development workshops and trainings (Monday nights 68pm).
Campus Recreation is a department within Student Affairs that provides fitness wellness and recreational programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the new expanded and renovated 200000 of Intramural Building the McCoy Natatorium the 700acre Stone Valley Outdoor Recreation Area a Tennis Center including six clay courts and four indoor courts the White Building Outdoor Adventures Aquatics Club Sports Fitness and Wellness Programs and Intramural Sports.
This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US drivers license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks
