SWAMS delivers a wide range of community programs and has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.
Birthing on Country (BOC) is a groundbreaking program that aims to empower Indigenous women to have more control over the birth of their babies. Birthing on Country provides culturally appropriate pre and postnatal care with each participant allocated a midwife who will stay with them throughout their pregnancy.
SWAMS is currently seeking to recruit a BOC Midwife to join their dynamic Child & Maternal Health Team.
The role of the Birthing on Country Midwife working within a multidisciplinary team incorporates the following activities: unsupervised clinical practice coordination of care health promotion patient advocacy collaborative patient management research communication and accurate and timely documentation. SWAMS staff strive to implement best practice Perinatal Health care to the women and families of the South West and to coordinate multidisciplinary care planning internal and external referral including referral for specialist care and allied health. This is done through coordination of the patient journey both in the clinic hospital and the community.
