The Leidos National Security Sector is seeking a Technical Writer with broadbased computer skills to support Navy training programs. In this role you will update training publications and manuals to reflect revised curricula provided by instructional experts and experienced maritime power plant technicians. Candidates with the required qualifications and security clearance are encouraged to apply immediately. If you meet the qualifications but lack security clearance you can still apply but you will have to obtain a clearance as a condition for starting work (Leidos will assist with the clearance process.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team consisting of Navy and contractor maritime power plant subject matter experts technical editors instructional system designers and engineers.
Assist in creating or updating training documentation for publication and/or webbased delivery.
Multitask work within deadlines and transition smoothly between various projects to meet program goals.
Communicate effectively with Maritime Power Plant Training Specialists Technical Editors Instructional Systems Designers Engineers and other Subject Matter Experts.
Provide accurate task completion estimates.
Assist in researching selecting and modifying existing training content to meet learning needs.
Convert and reformat supplied content for incorporation into new or existing training publications.
Support training team administrative functions as assigned.
Location: West Mifflin PA or Ballston Spa NY (limited telework opportunities no fully remote work due to security requirements)
Required Experience Skills and Education:
Associates degree with three 3 years of professional experience or equivalent combined education/experience.
Familiarity with markup languages (SGML XML HTML).
Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro Adobe Illustrator Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office tools (Excel Word).
Active or current final DoD Secret security clearance required prior to starting in role.
Preferred Experience Skills and Education:
Bachelors Degree and one 1 year of relevant experience or Associates degree with five 5 years of professional experience.
Proficient use of PTC Arbortext Epic Editor.
Familiarity with Microsoft Access.
Background with Armed Forces technical training programs is a plus.
Capable of serving as a member of a multidisciplinary virtual team at geographically dispersed locations.
Clearance Required:
US Citizen; Currently possess or ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Clearance or DoE L or Q clearance is a plus.
**We strongly prefer candidates with active or current clearances but will open a background investigation for accepted interviewed candidate (ability to obtain clearance is contingency of hire).**
Starting Salary: $70000 $80000 annually
