Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads all technical aspects of the engineering design and delivery of transportation and highway design plans specifications and cost estimates on projects of varying size and complexity with minimal supervision.
- Supports Project Managers to ensure delivery of transportation and highway design projects within the required timeline and budget.
- Performs complex design and geometric analyses on highway engineering projects using MicroStation Geopak InRoads and/or OpenRoads in accordance with the accepted design practice as well as local state and federal requirements
- Documents all design work including memos drawings sketches calculations or tabulations for the quality assurance reviews of work performed by staff.
- Utilizes value engineering optimization and judgement from previous experience as well as contributions from others throughout design process to accomplish goals.
- Directs and reviews production of drawings by CAD technicians Design Engineers and Project Engineers.
- Works closely with subconsultants and other company departments.
- Attends project meetings both internally and with clients.
- Continually develops personal knowledge of engineering and construction best practices and standards by leveraging job experience and attending continuing education training.
Key Qualifications:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering and a minimum 10 years of civil design experience in the transportation industry.
- PE license preferred.
- Extensive project experience working with IDOT and Tollway and their policies and procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of MicroStation Geopak InRoads and/or OpenRoads.
- Valid drivers license required.
