NEURO ENGINEERING INTERN OVERVIEW:
This position would be active within the Neuro Engineering Department assisting with Complaint and NonConformance Investigations for product supporting the design and development of medical devices and processes that complement our current product lines. This onsite position requires the candidate to start parttime (min 20 hours per week) during school year and fulltime 40 hours per week) during the summer with the possibility of promotion after internship is concluded. The intern will become a product expert as well as assist Neurosurgical team with a variety of tasks including performing test procedures documenting developments and improving existing medical devices and accessories.
COMPETANCIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE NEURO ENGINEERING INTERN:
Investigate product complaints and nonconformance reports for products
Assist in the development of new and existing products and processes
Become expert on PMT products and functions
Use established procedures to improve existing medical devices and accessories. Continually optimize manufacturing procedures to produce less expensive higher quality medical devices.
Perform test procedures to verify and validate product quality and efficacy.
Document all developments in scientific notebooks and complete Change Control documentation revisions.
Assist in the completion of new and existing product design validations.
Complete design drawings in SolidWorks or similar drafting program and create prototypes to progress
the development through its design stages.
Work with production to develop efficient (i.e. cost material time etc. userfriendly manufacturing processes.
Communicate progress and decisions to team / superiors.
Coordinate and assist in corrective and preventative action (CAPA) activities and solutions
Comply with appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. ISO FDA etc. and associated quality
systems described in PMTs documentation.
Communicate with strategic vendors and suppliers.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE NEURO ENGINEERING INTERN:
Degree in progress in applicable field of study preferably engineering (ME ChE BioMedE)
Ability to work parttime while finishing degree summers fulltime
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Substantial attention to detail and ability to follow processes as laid out in Standard Operating Procedures
Selfstarter and selforganizer
Ability to handle confidential / sensitive information
Exceptional problem solving and design skills
Strong personal computer skills including experience with MS Office and SolidWorks
