Principal Transportation Planner
Overview:
The Principal Transportation Planner will be a key addition to ICFs Transportation Practice. The successful candidate will lead statewide regional and local transportation planning projects with a focus on the Southeastern and/or MidAtlantic US regions as well as nationallevel research projects and selected planning studies in other regions of the U.S.
The ideal candidate will call the east coast home preferably near an ICF office Arlington VA Reston VA Atlanta GA Florida Reston VA or New York NY) thus welcoming a hybrid work arrangement. Other east coast locations north of Georgia and South of NYC will also be considered.
The position requires the following experience in as many of the following areas:
- Transportation planning including statewide metropolitan and/or corridor planning.
- Performancebased planning and programming processes including project prioritization and selection processes.
- Freight planning portrelated planning and rail planning.
- Transit planning and related analyses addressing topics such as shared mobility firstmile lastmile connections bus rapid transit parkandride planning and travel demand management plans.
- Transportation financial analysis asset management and/or economic analysis including risk assessment and benefitcost analysis.
- Transportation data analysis and visualization.
- Policy analysis related to freight and/or passenger travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Will lead statewide regional and local transportation planning projects with a focus on the Southeastern/MidAtlantic United States as well as nationallevel research projects and selected planning studies in other regions of the U.S.
- Leading development of new business opportunities and proposals with a focus on state and local clients.
- Identifying industry trends and working closely with the division senior leadership to position ICF for longterm growth.
- Leading the development of innovative accurate timely and highquality products and services typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff.
- Managing task or project schedules and budgets.
- Facilitating workshops and other outreach activities.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in urban planning public policy economics environmental science transportation/civil engineering or related subjects.
- 12 years of experience driving multimodal longrange transportation planning projects.
- 5 years of experience working on state regional or local transportation plans or policy issues preferably in the Southeast (e.g. Alabama Georgia North Carolina South Carolina) or MidAtlantic (e.g. Maryland DC Virginia Pennsylvania New Jersey New York)
- 3 years of experience within a consulting environment leading transportation relevant new business development activity.

ICFs work focuses on integrated approaches that support sustainable transportation decisions addressing mobility safety environmental social and economic effects of transportation. Our work includes strategic planning research policy analysis outreach training and program evaluation for federal state and local governments. We specialize in evaluating the impacts of infrastructure projects programs and government policies; developing guidebooks; and documenting best practices related to integrated planning transportation operations and the environment.

Pay Range There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position including but not limited to relevant work experience skills certifications and competencies that align to the specified role geographic location education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
