DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Facilities Department is a team of employees responsible for the safety security maintenance and cleanliness of the Centers ten locations throughout the Los Angeles area. These facilities cover a wide variety of uses including medical facilities residential facilities community rooms theatres offices industrial kitchens and a coffee shop. The Facilities Department is a great team with hardworking people who enjoy maintaining a wonderful atmosphere for clients and staff who are looking for a community to belong to.
JOB SUMMARY: Reporting directly to the Security Manager and as part of the Security Dispatch team the Security Officer II is responsible for the dispatch and coordination of the Centers Security Operations Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Monitor access control by using various security systems including security center programs CCTV intercoms and badge readers.
Dispatching security personnel to specific locations in response to security incidents suspicious activity emergencies alarms panic buttons or requests for assistance.
Follow established protocols to coordinate emergency response for fires medical incidents or security threats.
Maintain effective communication with security personnel supervisors managers and emergency services.
Act as the central hub for all phone calls radio traffic and emails.
Escalate calls to proper radio or communication channels.
Investigates security breaches incidents and other alarming behavior.
Log and distribute equipment (i.e. keys radios emergency supplies) to security officers staff and vendors.
Conduct weekly audits of cameras keys radios and emergency supplies.
Document and maintain accurate records of emergency and nonemergency calls property damage and security equipment.
Generate incident reports for emergency responses and/or other nonemergent issues.
Ensure that the grounds and facilities are safe and secure.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues law enforcement other security partners staff and volunteers.
Develop positive productive relationships with the LAPD and BID Security Agencies.
Support agency goals and initiatives as required.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.
A passion for the Centers work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
Current State of California Guard Card required.
Passing score on a computer competency test.
Successfully complete dispatcher certification before start date.
Satisfactory based score on scenariobased exam.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a security dispatcher or similar role.
Familiarity with security systems alarm monitoring and access control.
Demonstrated ability to remain calm and focused during highpressure situations.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Must be able to prioritize tasks based on severity.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office software such as Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Word and the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Availability to work a rotating shift and weekends as scheduled.
Must be sensitive to the needs and concerns of the LGBTQIA community and people experiencing homelessness.
Bilingual skills a plus (English/Spanish fluency preferred)
