School Year: 8hour split shift (MondayFriday)
6:15 AM 10:15 AM & 2:15 PM 6:15 PM
NonSchool Days & Summer: 40hour a week straight shift hours that will vary 8 hours/day MondayFriday)
Kidstop and Four Star Express programs provide highquality programs outofschool time care for youth ages 4 through 5th grade. Position SummaryThe Kidstop Lead Instructor plays a critical role in creating a positive and supportive environment for children youth families and staff. This position is responsible for onsite leadership mentorship and coordination of daily activities to ensure a safe engaging and inclusive experience for all participants. Edinbrook is a hub site for our before and after school care program and supports multiple families and youth from various elementary schools.
Key ResponsibilitiesCommunicates with families youth and school district staff in an accurate friendly and timely manner through multiple methods. Communication and collaboration with multiple elementary schools and transportation is essential due to being a hub site for the school year.
Informs stakeholders about program updates and deadlines to ensure seamless participation in the program.
Communicates and coordinates with several internal and external partners to ensure a quality program.
Builds respectful relationships with youth families community partners and district staff.
Supports all outofschool time activities families and staff (YE instructors building supervisors etc. onsite to ensure a safe secure welcoming and supportive environment.
Greets and engages with families and youth daily.
Works with and supports all youth in the program.
Communicates and documents accidents or incidents concerning youth or staff to appropriate supervisors or families.
Maintains confidentiality and privacy of youth and families.
Implements district building/school and program policies and procedures.
Creates and maintains a safe and welcoming environment that supports and serves the needs of youth and families.
Appreciates and supports the development of individual attributes in the youth served in the program.
Ensures the safety of all program participants and serves as the incident commander. Responsible for conducting drills on a regular basis with staff and students.
Provides overall daily direction of the program and work direction for other staff.
Maintains the appearance and cleanliness of program space and makes physical changes as necessary to meet the needs of participants.
Collaborates with others to organize and support field trips; reviews plans assists with groups and preparation. Works closely with the Site Supervisor before finalization communicates destination expectations to students and staff and ensures all necessary preparations (e.g. snacks water lunches group assignments and supplies) are completed for a smooth and successful experience
Attends all required Lead Instructor meetings and other meetings and field trips as needed. Assists in facilitating meetings as necessary. Meetings/Field Trips may occur outside of your scheduled work time and adjustments to your work schedule may be required. Collaboration with your site supervisor will be necessary to accommodate these adjustments.
Provides positive and corrective feedback and alternatives as needed.
Assesses and utilizes team members areas of expertise to provide for optimum outcomes.
Works collaboratively with other staff and youth to plan and implement ageappropriate fun enriching and handson experiences for youth on a regular basis.
Facilitates and organizes enriching opportunities for youth across different age groups abilities and identities.
Supports the social physical emotional and cognitive development of each youth.
Serves as a community education liaison at building and district levels.
Develops and supports all enrichment opportunities for youth including Youth Enrichment.
Advocates and supports overall program quality improvement goals procedures guidelines and state statutes (DHS Certification or others).
Participates in activities with youth and leads small or large group activities.
Provides accommodations to programming to meet the needs of all youth including those identified with special needs.
Demonstrates dedication to creating and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all families scholars and staff regardless of abilities ethnicities genders and religious beliefs.
Implements and maintains fidelity to all quality improvement measures as defined by the Site Supervisor or Program Managers.
Works as a team member to ensure all staff are successful and the mission of the district is met.
Serves as a positive representative of all outofschool time programs.
Mindful of words and actions and does not allow negative emotions to affect others.
Supports the Site Supervisor in the consistent delivery of programs and services.
Problemsolves collaborates and communicates onsite issues and needs in a timely and effective manner.
Builds trusting relationships with all youth family and staff.
Honors all youth families and staff.
Serves as a positive role model displaying attributes such as creativity problemsolving a learning mindset responsibility and positivity.
Welcomes diversity in thinking culture and perspective without judgment.
Supports professional development by assisting with onboarding new staff training and facilitation.
Completes other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor Program Manager Program Coordinator or Site Leadership.
Must be at least 18 years of age but 21 years of age is preferred at the time of employment.
Must have an Associate degree or two years of relevant postsecondary education in Youth Work Education Social Work or related field. Bachelors degree preferred in recreation education or related field twitch at least one year previous experience.
Minimum of 2080 hours (approximately one year) of experience working with K8 youth in a childcare or schoolage program.
Meets Minnesota School Age Childcare Program Standards including 120 hours of training in child development guidance and/or recreation coursework.
Current First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
