PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to): Plans directs and coordinates the delivery of Special Education in compliancewith federal and state laws and regulations; In conjunction with building Principals and Business Manager develop monitorand adjust special education budget; Supervises the implementation of 504 services to maintain compliance withthe Americans with Disabilities Act; In conjunction with building administration and general education staffto monitor at risk students; Coordinate the eligibility for special education and/or related services. To have a thorough understanding of the Special Education laws and to keepcurrent in regard to the same; Recruit train and supervise highly effective Special Education Districtpersonnel and to assist Principals in regard to the same; Develop new programs to meet the everchanging needs of the studentpopulation; Ensure required service delivery in accordance with IEP specifications; Engage parents in the education of their children including attendanceat monthly meetings of the Parent Advisory Council for SpecialEducation; Maintain and make recommendations in regard to District SpecialEducation policies and procedures; Along with the Superintendent propose and codevelop appropriate ProfessionalDevelopment activities for both professional and paraprofessional staff andparents; Develop prepare and report required data in regard to Special Education for theMassachusetts Department of Education and the Superintendent; Develop and process appropriate grants to access federal and state funds andmonitor compliance for the same as well as seek other funding sources; Serve as District Liaison with regional organizations; Along with the Director of Finance and Operations develop process andmonitor District responsibilities in regard to Special Education transportation; Refer North Brookfield students to outside programs as required by IEPs andmonitor placement and progress; Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may fromtime to time be assigned by the Superintendent.
