Overall Responsibility:
A Traffic Engineer 1 supports the Project Engineer by accurately and efficiently performing traffic engineering tasks. Must be selfmotivated individual that works well in a teamoriented environment. Must be able to make independent design decisions. |
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Proficiency in developing traffic signal plans and traffic simulation models in for capacity analysis and level of service evaluations.
- Basic understanding of traffic signal and ITS systems.
- Ability to quickly grasp and apply new design procedures/ordinances.
- A firm understanding and consistent application of SEI/GDOT design standards
- Fundamental understanding of the design of transportation systems roadway intersection pedestrian etc.
- Proficient technical writing skills in preparing
- Assist PE in preparing Traffic Impact Studies for both public and private clients
- Assist PE in preparing Traffic Engineering Reports per State and local DOTs for traffic signal warrants and ICE evaluations
- Knowledge of local state county ordinances including ADA.
- Basic data collection knowledge (count data crash data field inspections signal timing data basic surveying techniques etc.
- Accurate quantity takeoffs.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills

Experience Proficiencies Skills and Certifications:
- Bachelors degree (BS)in Traffic Engineering or equivalent from an accredited fouryear college or university.
- Minimum 1 year of related design experience.
- Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) in Georgia preferred within 1 year of employment.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Microstation Synchro HCS PC Warrants and Vissim (preferred).
- Working knowledge Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and Adobe PDF.
- Must possess current valid drivers license and Social Security Card or other documentation for EVerify. EOE
