CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Osher Lifelong Learning at the Wilmington campus is a membership organization which in cooperation with the Division of Professional and Continuing Studies provides opportunities for cultural and intellectual development for individuals age 50 and older. OLLIW delivers over 600 classes annually to approximately 3000 duespaying members and has an annual operating budget of $1.7M. Membership currently includes working and retired faculty educators lawyers doctors accountants musicians engineers industry chemists among many others. Arsht Hall serves as the home for the OLLIW program.

Under the general direction of the Director the Program Coordinator works closely with the Institutes Curriculum Committee to oversee the development implementation and administration of this dynamic noncredit program with more than 250 enthusiastic creative and energetic volunteer instructors teaching each fall and spring semester and during summer session. Responsible for inperson curriculum housed in Wilmington and Newark the Wilmington program coordinator will work in collaboration with a program coordinator in Kent/Sussex Counties and an online program coordinator. Program management employee management and experience with customer service or senior populations coupled with exceptional customer service skills are necessary for a candidate to be successful in this position. Commitment to a teambased approach and the ability to prioritize tasks and function in a fastpaced workplace are key.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and oversee the strategic development and general administration and improvement of the educational program in collaboration with the Curriculum Committee and in consultation with the Director and fellow program coordinators.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the recruitment orientation and support of new instructors. Conduct interviews of prospective instructors.
  • Organize and execute comprehensive support and mentoring services for more than 250 instructors and more than 20 academic department coordinators with the program including inperson professional development meetings each session.
  • Create distribute and maintain resources and materials designed to enhance instructional and curricular quality.
  • Oversee planning and of fall spring and summer session course offerings onsite in Wilmington and Newark; direct solicitation and assessment of course proposals and syllabi. Coordinate the work of the Curriculum Committee to process organize and approve course offerings.
  • Develop and support hybrid and group viewing classes as needed.
  • Schedule all courses and extracurricular activities to maintain and maximize quality of program results; work with AV Classroom Tech III to ensure equipment needs are met.
  • Provide daily support guidance and assistance to staff and volunteers over a range of activities as required by membership needs.
  • Provide daytoday supervision for AV Classroom Tech III.
  • Assist with catalog production and semester course registration; maintain and develop program data.
  • Identify and build links with internal and external resources for instructional and curricular development opportunities.
