Responsibilities
Able to read / understand construction plans
Responsible for operating heavy equipment at construction sites in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury property damage or loss of life.
Clean maintain and secure all equipment as directed by AFL policies and procedures.
Perform preshift inspections change attachments lubricate and refill equipment while performing other site duties as assigned.
Properly reports any mechanical or safety problems with the equipment in accordance with company procedures.
Proactively communicate with foreman superintendent and coworkers.
Complete required paperwork reporting and other documentation as required.
Heavy equipment operated at AFL include but are not limited to backhoes trackhoe skid steers etc.
Perform other site duties or functions consistent with status or vocational ability as may be required from time to time.
Ensure a safe work environment for our people clients subcontractors and the public.
Represent AFL to the public in a manner that is consistent with corporate values and goals.
Lead by example.
Adhere to and promotes the environmental health & safety policies of AFL.
Perform other duties as requested directed or assigned.

Qualifications
1 year of construction experience
Experience in Utility Construction ASSET
Ability to understand and work with Utility locates.
Capable of working in all temperatures and climates and in confined spaces
Ability to travel to various sitebased projects if required
Proficiency in driving with a loaded trailer an asset.
Working Conditions
Physically demanding workload
Work location: Work in locations that preclude the ability to return home
Work hours: Shift work (Weekend work is part of shift rotation)
Traveling is required
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Clean drivers abstract.
Previous Telecommunication/ OSP experience is an asset
