The primary responsibility of the Equipment Operator is to safely operate heavy machinery such as material handler (excavator) conveyor belts and frontend loaders to handle petroleum coke in the Citgo refinery in Lake Charles Louisiana and assist in maintaining the equipment according to Savage standards.
This is what we need from you:
- Contribute to a cokehandling team by operating several pieces of equipment that will help move stockpile and load material onto trucks
- Operate any one of the following on a daily basis: a KOMATSU WA500 Loader (or equivalent) Skidsteer and a Material Handler
- Assist the operation with other tasks deemed necessary to meet customer expectations i.e. maintenance cleanup safety observations and inspections
- Perform thorough pre and posttrip inspections
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment
- Expand personal knowledge of operating equipment
- Report maintenance issues to the maintenance crew
- Understand our critical service requirements and see they are met
- Take an active role in our safety program including attendance at all safety meetings and ensure safe behaviors
- Ensure environmental compliance
Requirements of a Successful Equipment Operator:
- Extensive experience operating large pieces of heavy equipment
- Read write speak and understand English

- Work safely efficiently and thoroughly with no supervision
- This position requires Team Members to work weekends holidays and rotating schedules
- Comfortable with heights including the ability to walk up and down conveyor belt lines and climb ladders
