The Opportunity
We are seeking a Research Associate to join our team in San Diego. This is a handson position with responsibility for the design synthesis and analysis of oligonucleotides. The ideal candidate will have biotech/pharma experience in aspects of medicinal chemistry bioconjugation and nucleic acid therapeutics. The candidate is expected to be a strong team player who enjoys scientific discovery and can communicate and collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment.
What You Will Contribute
- Design synthesis purification and analysis of oligonucleotides ranging from mg to gram scales.
- Development of oligonucleotide synthesis protocols and process optimizations.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to support ongoing research activities.
- Maintain detailed experimental records in an electronic lab notebook prepare and communicate research results in both oral and written formats.
- Follow all laboratory safety protocols and assist with general laboratory management equipment upkeep and inventory management.
What We Seek
BS or MS in chemistry biochemistry chemical engineering or related discipline. Previous experience in biotech/pharma is desirable.
Experience with purification and analytical techniques (e.g. HPLC IEX SEC LCMS PAGE is required.
Experience with oligonucleotide synthesizers Mermade Dr. Oligo Akta and processes C&D purification desalting formulation) is desirable.
Proven ability to conduct selfdirected research and to work effectively in a dynamic environment with a diverse team of coworkers
Solid written and oral communication skills enthusiasm integrity selfmotivation strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are necessary
What We Will Provide to You:
- The base salary range for this role is $36.54/hr. $40.38/hr. The final compensation will be commensurate with relevant experience skillset internal equity and market factors.
