Position Overview:
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong SolidWorks and mechanical design experience to support the development of advanced propulsion systems and spacecraft components. This role will involve both new product development and sustaining engineering with a focus on making necessary adjustments to inprogress projects to optimize performance manufacturability and reliability. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing analyzing testing and refining mechanical assemblies for spaceflight applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Perform structural and thermal analyses to ensure the integrity of spaceflight hardware.
- Generate detailed engineering drawings GD&T and documentation for manufacturing.
- Support sustaining engineering efforts making design modifications and refinements to ongoing projects as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical and propulsion engineers to integrate mechanical designs into larger systems.
- Support prototype fabrication assembly and testing to validate designs.
- Conduct trade studies to optimize designs for performance weight and manufacturability.
- Work with vendors and machinists to source and manufacture precision components.
- Ensure designs meet spaceflight requirements including vacuum compatibility thermal stability and structural integrity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in mechanical design preferably in aerospace or hightech industries.
- Expertise in SolidWorks including part and assembly modeling drawings and design for manufacturability.
- Experience with FEA analysis tools (e.g. ANSYS SolidWorks Simulation) for structural and thermal evaluations.
- Familiarity with sustaining engineering specifically adjusting and improving designs of inprogress projects.
- Understanding of spaceflight hardware considerations such as materials selection vibration testing and thermal management.
- Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
