Position Summary
Dr. Patrick Sullivan is a professor in the Genetics and Psychiatry departments at UNC as well as a professor at the Karolinska Institute in Stokholm Sweden. The Sullivan laboratory at UNC CH invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct statistical or bioinformatic analyses of genomic transcriptomic and epigenomic data. We focus particularly on schizophrenia major depression and eating disorders. We are deeply collaborative and actively work with many major genetic psychiatric neuroscience and functional genomic groups in the US Scandinavia Europe India and Australia. The individual will have the opportunity to help with multiple projects studying the genetics of various psychiatric disorders. We have multiple large datasets and all projects are funded. The position will be set for one year with the opportunity to be reappointed yearly. The postdoc would work with Dr. Sullivan to create a multiyear plan to maximize scientific output pursue opportunities to obtain grant funding and progress toward an independent career.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Experience in analysis of multiple types of modern datasets (e.g. genomewide association exome sequencing whole genome sequencing RNA sequencing ATAC seq HiC ChIPseq etc.. Good programming skills are essential (e.g. R Python) in order to flexibly manipulate large datasets along with the use of standard pipelines for analysis bioinformatic integration and gene set analyses.
