Job Description

The Theological Studies Department of Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a oneyear postdoctoral Faculty Fellows appointment beginning in fall 2025. Each fellow position involves teaching three undergraduate core courses a semester (two course preparations per semester). The area of expertise is Catholic Social Teaching and nationstates regulation of immigration. Successful candidates will teach lowerdivision Theological Inquiry courses and upperdivision Faith and Reason courses. Fellowships are intended for candidates who have completed their Ph.D. within the last three 3 years. Applicants should have a passion for undergraduate teaching a strong commitment to the liberal arts and an interest in the unique mission that animates Jesuit/Catholic higher education.

The objective of the fellows program is to facilitate professional development as teacherscholars. The fellowship will have distinctive features such opportunities to delve into Catholic Intellectual Traditions Catholic Social Teaching and Ignatian Pedagogy in addition to participation in other teachingrelated professional development opportunities. In addition mentoring and support for research and publication is a key part of this fellowship.

The application deadline is March 17 2025 at 5:00 pm. Candidates may apply through the LMU Human Resources online application portal: Application requirements: 1 a cover letter (outlining area of expertise teaching and research interests and resonance with LMUs mission); 2 a curriculum vitae; 3 a statement of teaching philosophy and if applicable teaching evaluations and/or sample syllabus (those who do not yet have formal teaching experience are still encouraged to apply); 4)a sample of scholarly writing; and 5 the names and contact information of three recommenders. All must be uploaded at time of application. Only online applications will be accepted.
