Summer Day Camp Counselor

As a Summer Day Camp Counselor at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows (BGCTM) youll have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of children while enjoying a fun and fulfilling summer job. Youll work with kids on a variety of activities including art projects sports fitness field trips and more helping them to develop new skills build confidence and make new friends.
Our Mission: To enable all young people especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as caring productive responsible citizens.
These are some of the additional things you will do as a Summer Day Camp Counselor.
As a counselor youll be responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment for children planning and leading activities and serving as a positive role model and mentor. Youll also have the chance to take the kids on exciting field trips exploring the community and introducing them to new experiences.

- Part time employees are enrolled in Nivati a free mental health and wellbeingprogram.

- Pay starts at $14.50 an hour.
This is what your schedule could look like:
- This role is part time with flexible scheduling to accommodate personal life or class schedules. We always aim for consistent schedules for our staff to promote a balanced lifestyle.
- Shifts are:
- 7:00 AM 3:00 PM
- 10:00 AM 4:00 PM
- 12:00 PM 6:00 PM
- We have many locations where we provide summer programs across the greater Reno/Sparks area Fernley Ely and Winnemucca.
Qualifications
We have great staff that can teach you skills on the job but there are some traits that will make you more successful as a Summer Day Camp Counselor:
- You are a fun energetic and excited individual
- You want to pursue a career in education and childcare such as: HDFS CDA Education Counseling etc
- You have a passion for building a better community
- You have experience working with teaching nurturing and/or mentoring children
- You have the ability to communicate and cooperate with children other staff and parents
- Minimum of 17 years or older
As part of our commitment to child and member safety there are some additional steps that all hires will be asked to complete:
- You will need to provide 3 references. These references should be professional references if you have work experience. If you dont have work experience these references can be any nonfamily member over the age of 18 who can speak to your character and professionalism.
- You will also be asked to complete a drug screen for any illegal substances background check and fingerprint check.
