Job Summary/Basic Function
Maryville University is seeking a skilled Content Manager with a specialization in copywriting to join our Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications. This role requires expertise in both longform and shortform content creation from crafting engaging blurbs for our website to composing detailed articles for our university magazine and writing succinct reports and small grant proposals. The successful candidate will also manage relationships with external writing vendors ensuring content quality and consistency across all platforms.
Support the development and implementation content strategies that align with Maryville Universitys branding and communication goals.
Write edit and proofread a wide range of content including website copy magazine articles promotional materials grant proposals and reports.
Manage and coordinate content projects from conception to completion ensuring adherence to timelines and brand guidelines.
Supervise and collaborate with external vendors and freelance writers maintaining high standards of quality and cohesiveness in all outsourced content.
Analyze content performance metrics and use insights to optimize future content strategies and improve engagement.
Maintain a consistent tone and style across all communications reflective of the universitys values and the needs of our diverse audience.
Work closely with other departments to gather information and craft accurate content that meets their needs and goals. This could involve interviewing faculty members working alongside event coordinators or coordinating with the admissions team.
Work with the SMC team to develop concepts and content for campaigns aimed at boosting enrollment fundraising efforts and promoting special events.
Generate and manage content for social media platforms aligning with broader communication strategies and engaging directly with audiences to enhance interaction and brand presence.
Assist in writing statements and updates during crises that affect the institution ensuring clear compassionate and timely communication to all stakeholders.
Analyze the effectiveness of content campaigns using analytics tools to measure engagement levels and the impact of different content types adjusting strategies as necessary based on datadriven insights.
Minimum Qualifications
Exceptional writing editing and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Experience managing external vendors and coordinating with freelance writers.
Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Proficiency in content management systems and digital marketing tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in organizations with a complex organizational structure.
Familiarity with SEO best practices and analytics tools.
Experience in grant writing or fundraising content creation
Bachelors degree in Communications English Journalism or a related field.
35 years of experience in content creation and management with a proven track record in both longform and shortform writing.
Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in copywriting and content management is preferred.
