Job Description
Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a Casting Process Engineer job in La Porte IN for our client a manufacturer of quality aerospace and industrial sector products boasting a stateoftheart investment casting facility. This is a handson role where the Casting Process Engineer will play a vital role in the process monitoring and improvement of the vacuum investment casting process working on the production floor and heattreating and furnace departments. You will support manufacturing through process control and improvement initiatives ensuring product integrity evaluating processes and data determining process trends and perfecting processes. Relocation assistance is available. Salary can be higher for candidates with investment casting experience.
Responsibilities for the Casting Process Engineer job in La Porte IN include:
- Support manufacturing in the processing of castings through all operations.
- Maintain customer relationships through joint resolution of issues.
- Review and improve specifications and work instructions for mold wrap mold preheat casting and postcast cooling processes.
- Data analysis and research including process performance trends and process improvements.
- Provide training and accreditation for departmental casting technicians.
- Offer guidance to manufacturing in the event of interrupted or incomplete processing of material.
- Direct Maintenance and Instrumentation technicians on acceptable repair and calibration for process acceptance.
- Conduct statistical analysis to ensure control of currently identified key input variables and determine future variables.
- Ensure adherence to all process specifications Maintain and improve process records.
- Serve as the quality designee for releasing equipment to production after prescribed testing.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a fouryear engineering degree is required with preference given to Materials Science Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.
- A minimum of one year of experience in molten metal processing with preference given to precision casting processes and superalloys.
- Experience in synchronous manufacturing and Kaizens.
- Familiarity with ISO Nadcap and other quality systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with nickelbased superalloy metallurgy is also preferred.
- Experience with statistical data analysis and working knowledge of statistical tools such as MiniTab SAS JMP SAS EG etc.
- Six Sigma Experience and Lean Manufacturing experience are a plus.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status; ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder) Political Asylee or Refugee. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire; visa sponsorship including F1 Visas are NOT available nor can be accepted due to ITAR restrictions for this position.
