Job Description
The faculty member in Endodontics is responsible in providing patient care in OHN and educating predoctoral dental students and postdoctoral residents in WSDM. The position will report to the executive leadership team (ELT) of the Workman School of Dental Medicine through the Chief Dental Officer/Associate Dean for Clinical Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent) eligibility for dental licensure (instructor) in the state of North Carolina
- Completion of a CODAaccredited or equivalent foreign program in endodontics
Experience and Training
- Preferably boardeligible from the American Board of Endodontics
- 5 years of experience in clinical practice of dentistry is preferred but not required.
- Experience in dental education is preferred but not required.
Knowledge Skills Ability:
- Robust verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional receptiveness and approachability
- Poised and professional in representation of HPU WSDM
- Receptive to feedback performance improvement and continuous coaching Knowledge of HPU WSDMs core values and mission
- Strong ability to articulate operational and analytical data
- Clinical documentation diagnosis and treatment planning using electronic health records (EHR) such as EPIC systems.
- Travel to OHN (oral health network) sites located within 1 hour of High Point NC
- Commitment to and exemplary embodiment of core values of compassion innovation growth mindset learning and leadership integrity and trust.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The candidate selected for this position will perform all duties directed by the Chief Dental Officer and WSDM executive leadership team (ELT). The candidate will be expected to perform the following duties including but not limited to:
Patient care
- Provide comprehensive and emergency endodontic diagnosis and treatment patients seen in the HPU Oral Health Network OHN)
- Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism ethicalfitness and patientcentered approach
- Application of evidencebased practices to optimize patient outcomes
- Documentation of patient history examination findings diagnosis treatment planning utilizing electronic health record (EPIC)
- Comfort with digital technologies such as surgical microscope intraoral scanning photography 3d printing CADCAM and CBCT imaging.
- Be able to cover for other OHN providers as needed.
Education
- Serve as an attending clinical faculty for DMD and/or postdoctoral residents including modeling of optimal patient care coaching in instructional and experiential environments and assessment of learner performance
- Support curriculum content design and delivery in classroombased and simulationbased learning environments.
- Provide continuing education courses in HPU WSDM as a content matter expert.
- Serve as a clinician role model for learners and be able to thrive in a startup education model.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Chief Dental Officer with input from the Executive Leadership Team
- Evaluation: Ongoing performance reviews is conducted along with an annual assessment by the CDO and includes input from the faculty and students.
